English as an Additional Language
At Ranford Primary we believe that diversity contributes to our positive learning environment. Currently, there are 29 different language backgrounds represented in the school. Students that require support to access the curriculum receive it from a well-qualified staff. We currently have a full-time EAL teacher, who works collaboratively with all teachers (K-6) to recognise and ensure the needs of all students for whom English is an additional language are met. Students are supported within the classroom or withdrawn for more intensive teaching, depending on their needs. In addition, there is a high proportion of staff with EAL qualifications and experience to compliment the teaching and learning program. A special EAL Leadership Team has been established to develop a consistent pedagogy, which supports students across the school.
