As part of the Health and Well-Being curriculum areas, all students participate in two hours of physical activity each week under the expertise of a Physical Education specialist teacher who designs the implementation of the curriculum to cater for the range of student needs and skill development. Students in Pre Primary to Year 6 have a sixty minute physical education lesson each week which is complimented by a further sixty minutes of junior or senior sport. Sport sessions enable students to experience a variety of team games and competitions with a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and teamwork.
During the year, students have the opportunity to participate in the South Central Sports Association Summer and Winter Carnivals, Interschool Cross Country Carnival and Interschool Athletics Carnivals. Students also participate in the annual Faction Carnival and lunchtime competitions. Faction Points earned throughout the year are collated and work towards the Spirit Cup, awarded to the winning Faction.
Small groups of students in the early years work with the Physical Education specialist to develop their gross motor skills in a Fundamental Movement Program. Research has shown this to have a positive impact on student’s overall development and learning.
