Students at Ranford have the opportunity to become leaders and develop the skills and characteristics of positive role models to their peers and in the community.

We recognize that developing leadership skills for students is important at the classroom, peer and whole school level. As a school we implement strategies to support student participation and collaboration to empower student voice, agency and leadership.

This promotes a sense of connectedness for students in the school community.

Student Councillors and Captains

Year 5 students can apply to be a student Councillor or Captain in Year 6. Students are selected after participating in a written and verbal selection process. Successful students attend a leadership conference which supports them to develop their leadership skills and be able to drive initiatives within the school. Student Councillors lead fundraisers, community initiatives and facilitate assemblies and whole school events. Captains are involved in whole school sporting events, carnivals and equipment management. Captains and Councillors support and promote a positive school tone, role model and lead by example to their peers.

The Green Team

Students in Year 5 and 6 who are passionate about the environment and sustainability are encouraged to apply for The Green Team. Key responsibilities of this team include leading whole school environmental awareness campaigns, fundraising and role modelling sustainable practices around the school.
