The School Board plays an important role in contributing to good school governance so that school resources are used efficiently, and community expectations and the school’s priorities reflect the needs of the students and are aligned with the Business Plan.
The Ranford Primary School Board is comprised of 7 community members and 4 staff representatives plus the School Principal.
The School Board participates in:
- Establishing and reviewing the school’s objectives, priorities, and general policy directions
- Financial planning to ensure priorities and plans are supported
- Evaluating the school performance in achieving objectives, priorities and directions articulated in the Business Plan
- Formulating codes of conduct for students
- Promoting the school in the community
- Determining the dress code for students
- Providing feedback for policy development
- Endorsing the Annual Report
- Approving:
- School budget
- Contributions, Fees and Charges including extra cost optional components for selected programs
- Items for personal use (Booklists)
- Out of Hours School Care Contracts
- School Development Day dates
As stated in the 2021 Public School Review Report:
“A highly functional, transparent and collaborative School Board fulfils its governance roles and responsibilities. Engaged in the genuine review of data and information, they support policy development and the strategic intent of the school.”
