All students from Years 3 to Year 6 have a one hour lesson each week with a specialist teacher. Students learn about Italian culture and history while learning to speak, read and write the language.
A highlight of the program is the opportunity for students to promote Italian in the wider community through an international online competition, Language Perfect. Results from the last competition saw 44 upper primary students receive certificates of recognition ranging from Bronze to elite competition status. Overall, Ranford Primary's global ranking was 128th out of 2,155 schools that competed.
The program ensures that students are provided with opportunities to build their skills in speaking and understanding Italian. Students demonstrate a positive attitude to Italian and show pride in their ability to communicate in a language other than English.
